Where Are We Living These Days?

It sure doesn't feel like the good ole' USA that I grew up in.  We have the government "recording" our phone calls, internet searches, purchases, etc.  Supposedly they aren't looking at it unless you are a suspect but I don't like the fact that what I am doing is being "monitored" by BIG BROTHER. Shouldn't I have the right to make a phone call, by something on-line, or do an Internet search without there being a record of it? For the record, I am not doing anything on my phone or on the Internet that I need to hide or that I would be ashamed of, I just feel like this is taking away some of my individual freedom and this is a big deal to me.  Our government abandoned a group of Americans in Benghazi to defend A TERRORIST ATTACK on our emabassy. Oh, excuse me, it wasn't an act of terror, I meant a protest about a yout@be video that got a little out of hand....the "protesters" just happened to be carrying RPGs and other weapons with them. I encourage you to search "Pat Smith" on the Internet and read about her.  She is the mother of one of the soldiers that died in Benghazi and she is looking for answers.  I feel she deserves them.

Maybe you don't think all this is a big deal and that is your right (a right given to you by the Constitution-to have a varying opinion from others in our country, including those in politcal power).  We are supposed to be entitled by the Constitution to have our own opinions, choose our own religion, etc.  THESE ARE THE VERY PRINCIPLES UPON WHICH OUR COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED.  But now we find out that the IRS has been targeting certain groups and making things very difficult for them because of their OPINIONS.  Anyone else out there feel this is wrong?  Sure, maybe you do not agree with the political views of those on the RIGHT. But aren't those on the RIGHT entitled to their views and shouldn't they be able to express them the way anyone else in our country does?  It seems everyone is so concerned with being "politically correct" to those of different faiths, cultures, etc.  How about a little "political correctness" to those with more conservative politcal views. Can you imagine the outrage that would be going on in our country if the IRS was found to have been targeting primarily black groups?  Primarily Gay/Lesbian Groups?  Muslim Groups?  Good gracious, all the liberals and liberal news media would be having a field day with it!

Whether you agree with the political views of the RIGHT is irrelevant. Surely to GOD you can agree that they are entitled to those views and entitled to express them.  If you don't believe this, I honestly wish you would get the hell out of my country and move somewhere with military rule where the GOVERNMENT tells you your beliefs and takes action against you if you differ from those said views.

This is my rant for today.  I am tired of sitting by and watching our country and its values go down the drain.  I encourage each of you to stay informed.  Don't sit idly by and then complain about things later.  I am especially talking to those of  my age group.  We grew up in a wonderful place and we need to stay informed and do what we can to ensure that our children grow up with the same rights and freedoms that we had.  It is not enough just to say "well politics in the country is so corrupt in both parties, there is nothing I can do". If everyone says that, then you are right, there is nothing we can do.  But if each person stays informed and speaks out about their VIEWS, whatever they may be, then things can be impacted by the little folks like you and me.  It hasn't been all that too long ago in this country that I would have not had the right to vote and the right to marry my husband (who is black for those of you that don't know me).  Thank goodness people were active and fought for their rights.  Thank goodness people stayed informed and gave a DAMN.
