TGIF!

I am better and thank goodness, Cedric and Gabriel as of yet are still well...Man I hope they don't get what I had, it was BAD! I'm glad it is the weekend. No major plans other than watching the big game tomorrow (HEELS vs. pack) and then the Super Bowl on Sunday....Since my team is not playing, I am mainly interested in the Superbowl snacks and commercials this year :)

Nicole is still pregnant, she made it through a whole week at work off of bedrest...I am hoping she goes soon, I am ready to see Jackson!

Good reports from Baby Luke at Levine and am hoping we will get to see him soon...hopefully it will not be too much longer before he gets to come home!

SICK :(

I am at home for then 2nd day with this nasty stomach bug that seems to be striking everyone! Thank goodness Gabriel and Cedric don't have it yet. I spent yesterday at mom and dad's, just to stay away from Gabriel....mom and dad have already have it and hopefully I didn't give it back to them. I felt so bad yesterday I did not do anything but lay in the bed. Today, I am feeling better, just still very weak and NO energy. Hopefully tomorrow I will be a LOT better.

Thoughtful Thursday, 2nd edition

* Boy I am glad tomorrow is Friday, and it has really been a short week....I was off Monday and Tuesday, had a teacher workday yesterday, so my only 2 real days of work were today and tomorrow.....but my have they been a crazy 2 days and I am EXHAUSTED! Lots going on in the way of paperwork/auditing/Medicaid billing that is making my work-life nutso....just when you think you know how to do something and have everything that you need, they change things :(

*Glad the Heels seemed to have pulled it together....thank goodness they beat Clemson in Chapel Hill last night, they have never lost to Clemson at home..at least that streak is still alive....

* Not much planned for the weekend and I am glad about that....I plan to do some laundry, run a few errands, and try to relax as much as possible (which is not a lot when you have an ACTIVE one-year old!)

* I am SO over winter and cannot wait for spring to get here.....at least it is supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow.....

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Snow??

They are calling for snow here tonight and tomorrow morning....I am really hoping we get some... but knowing our luck, we won't. I had to go to Walmart earlier today...not for milk and bread like all the crazies, but I really needed a few things I could not live without, like baby wipes. It was a ZOO in there, go figure! I am hoping when I wake up tomorrow morning, the ground will be white. We are all off anyways...Cedric is off tomorrow and Wednesday and I am off tomorrow for an optional teacher workday which I have "opted" out of!

We had a great time at the wedding this weekend, I will post pictures soon.

Keep your fingers crossed that we get some of the white stuff!!!!!

And one more thing.......

Not only do I need a bigger house, I need a house that has pipes that don't freeze when it is COLD....got up this morning, headed to the bathroom, took off my PJs and turned on the water....SUPRISE, there was none! Thank goodness mom and dad live close by...headed over there and showered....We have a heater under the house now, I am hoping when I get home that it will be thawed out and that the pipes are not busted. IF they have, I have no clue what we will do..... Oh the joys of living in an OLD house.....In the end, I know it will make me appreciate a new house so much more but right now I just don't think I can take too much more of it. Thank goodness I will be out of that place for the weekend.

Thoughtful Thursday

Thoughtful Thursday....I am going to try and do this feature every Thursday, just a listing of my thoughts on the week and the upcoming weekend....We will see how it works out....I am trying to do better with my blog, I know I tend to neglect it at times..

*My Heels have another try at an ACC win tonight...lets hope they can beat Virginia...if not, I may just stop watching them this year. It just makes me SO mad. I scream and want to throw things at the TV...I haven't even been wearing any of my UNC stuff this week and you know that is hard for me, because almost everything I own has UNC or a ram on it! I do mind losing regardless of the circumstances because I am one of those crazy fans who never wants to lose and thinks that their team should always win....... but when you KNOW you are the better team, it is just unbearable. I think there is some dissension on our team because we have TOO MUCH talent. Ridiculous.

* This week has been pretty good at work. Just to let everyone know....my new job is placed on freeze indefinitely due to the state budget crisis. Thanks a lot, State of NC. So guess I am not going anywhere for right now, which may be a good thing anyway. Ever since I thought I was leaving my current job, I have just been doing what I think is right and best for my kids at school and ignoring a lot of the BS that aggravates me. It has made things much more enjoyable and I plan on just continuing this way. Plus, now that Christmas is over, I am looking foward to Spring Break and even better, Summer Break.....my job gets better and better each day closer to summertime!

* I am headed to Wilmington this weekend for my cousin Rance's wedding. Cedric could not get off work, so I am going with mom, dad, and Gabriel. It should be a lot of fun and I am looking forward to getting away for a few days..Plus, we are out of school on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday are teacher workdays...so I only have a 2 day week with kids...Just another reason why my current job is a good thing!

* I think that is all I have to say. I have been trying to find room for all the stuff Gabriel got for his birthday, man, we need a bigger house!!!

Birthday Party

The birthday party for Gabriel on Saturday was a BLAST! Thanks to everyone for coming and spending the afternoon with us. Also, thanks to EVERYONE for all of Gabriel’s wonderful presents. He is “hooked up” on clothes, toys, and books for a LONG time. It was so good to see everyone and we especially enjoyed getting both of our families together, which rarely gets to happen. We are also so appreciative of our friends who traveled quite a distance to get to the party….Laura and Travis came from the Raleigh area, Bryan and Julie came from Kernersville, and Chip and Melissa came all the way from Columbia with their twins, Gregory and Noah (who will turn 1 in March!). We missed seeing Nicole (who is still on bedrest), Bubby and Flossie (who are still in Charlotte with Luke, who is doing GREAT!) and the Pete-ster (who was at home with Uncle Mitchell, Cooper, and the newest Spinelli addition, Scout). We are looking forward to the next birthday party when we will have even more kids running around, with the addition of Luke, Jackson, and Baby Girl Sigmon…boy, it is going to be a wild time!!!!! A special thanks to my mom and dad for helping provide all the food and EVERYTHING else you do to help us out with Gabriel…I don’t know what I would do without you guys……Also to Aunt Janie, for providing the place for the party, which was just a great place for everyone to hang out and relax with each other….Our families are just TOO big to fit in my house!

Banana Punch!

For all of you who loved the banana punch at Gabriel’s party, here is the recipe…I think it would be very good with a little splash of flavored rum in it……

Banana Punch Recipe:

4 cups sugar
6 cups water
5 mashed bananas
1 can frozen orange juice
1 can frozen lemonade
1 large can pineapple juice
2 Liter 7-Up soda
Bring water and sugar to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes and let cool. Make frozen orange juice and lemonade according to can directions. Mix bananas and all juices together, then add the sugar water and stir well. Freeze mixture at least overnight. Let thaw 2 or 3 hours before serving. Just before serving, add the 7-Up slowly. Serve while still slushy.

(I doubled this recipe for the birthday party and had some left over)

Better Late Than Never

Ok, here are some of our pics from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day...Gabriel was sick and not real thrilled about getting up at 6:30 on Christmas morning. He didn't seem to really understand what was going on and I ended up having to open most of his presents for him. I know that next year things will be very different! He is feeling better now and is playing with ALL of his toys. He loves riding in his wagon outside, but even more than that, he likes to get behind it and push it, go figure! We loved getting to meet the Spinellis' new dog, Scout, she is SO adorable. We are sad that we missed going to Pete's birthday party because we had to take Gaby back to the doctor, but we look forward to seeing them again soon.

This week has flown by...I have been busy with putting away stuff, party planning for Gabriel's birthday, doctor appointments, and all that stuff you never seem to find time to get done....Mom and I took a trip down to the hospital yesterday to see Baby Luke and family. Getting to see a picture of Luke on Flossie's phone and seeing how much his little cheeks have filled out just did my heart and soul good! Bubby, Floss, and the rest of the crew are hanging in there and Luke is going to just rest and rest over the weekend. They plan on trying to remove the breathing tube again sometime next week. Please continue to pray for all of them, especially sweet baby Luke!

I cannot believe I am back at work on Monday :( YUCK! Still no word on the new job, hoping to hear something next week. All I can say is.....maybe it will snow Sunday night, hey a girl can hope!!!!! Have a great weekend and keep your fingers crossed for some snow here in the Carolinas!

Enjoy the pics!

Bowl Game Pics

Even though the Heels lost, we still had a great time!
