Kool Park Pool

Several weeks ago, we headed to Kool Park Pool with some of our family. We did this last year and had so much fun that we have decided to make this an annual event. Kool Park is awesome...it is this giant pool with a kid-friendly waterslide, rocks to jump off of, diving boards, and the majority of the pool is less than 4 feet deep which is awesome for kids. You can bring in food and drinks and they have a picnic area with tables where you can have lunch. The main attraction is the high dive. Honestly I am not sure how tall it really is. You climb up a scary metal ladder and then it is this huge platform with a diving board that you jump off of. I did this all the time when I was a kid. When we went last year, I was preggo and didn't think it was a good idea to jump. Meme climbed up last year but then decided she did not want to jump. She climbed down the ladder and got in trouble with the lifeguards, you aren't supposed to climb down! This year, I promised everyone that I would do it. Not only did I keep my promise, but dad jumped too! It really wasn't that bad, climbing up the ladder was scarier for me than jumping. Plus I went really really deep down in the water and it hurt my ears. But I was very proud of both of us!

The interesting thing about this year's pool day was the weather. When we left our house, it was cloudy but not rainy. As we got closer to the pool, it started pouring on us. When we got there, it had stopped raining but looked like it could start again at any point. We made the decision just to go on in and go for it. The kiddos were all so excited and we didn't want to disappoint them. Of course, once we were inside, the rain came pouring down on us. And I mean really pouring. At one point, MeMe and me were under a large tree trying to get out of it. The kids didn't seem to mind at all, and thank goodness is was just rain and no thunder/lightning. Elizabeth LOVED it and had a blast. The only problem was our picnic lunch and other stuff (dry clothes, towels, cameras, phones, etc.). There was no place to keep them dry. Our clothes/towels got soaked and finally we decided to take all the food back out to our cars so it would not get ruined. We swam in the rain for several hours, then once we were ready for lunch, we had to pack up and head home. There was no place I could feed Izz and let her nap in the pouring rain. So our day was cut a little short by the rain, but it is a day we will always remember! Hopefully next year the weather will cooperate!
