Wild Weekend Coming....

This has been a stressful week for me. That said, I am REALLY looking forward to our trip to Raleigh this Saturday/Saturday night, even though it will be our first overnight away from Baby G. The week started out just fine. I took Gabriel for his 3 month check up on Tuesday and he got a great report. He weighs 15 pounds, 2 ounces and had gained 1 1/2 inches since his last appointment. Then on Wednesday, he had two major choking incidents in a period of about 2 hours. He was in his crib awake for one of them ( I was in the room putting his clothes away) and in his swing for the other. Both times I was able to turn him upside down and get the fluid to drain out, but it just scared the crap out of me all over again. We spoke with the doctor and he advised to thicken all his bottles with rice cereal (which means I have to pump constantly). We had just been doing a bottle for the last feeding at night. He also said he would send us to a specialist in Charlotte to treat his reflux. Mom and I went and got some new bottles last night that are supposed to be good for reflux, colic, etc. I am trying them out today to see if I can see any difference. Anyone out there who has any advice or suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them. I am just a nervous wreck with him, sometimes I feel like I am just going crazy. In grad school, I had problems with TMJ in my jaw that was stress related, and let me tell you, it has returned with a VENGEANCE. It is popping constantly, locking, and just plain hurts. How fun!

Ok, that is enough for my sob story. It is a HAPPY FRIDAY and Gabriel has been fine the past two days. It think that is what is making me crazy, you never know when he will choke and that is SO scary to me. I am scared to ride in the car with him because I am afraid I will not be able to get him out of his car seat quickly enough. I am scared to leave the room with him, even to take a shower with the baby monitor on.

What else.....Let's see, I went to work yesterday for a training session on new EC paperwork. It was good to see my other SLP buddies, but getting up at 6 A.M. was not a good thing. I was EXHAUSTED by the afternoon. Although I am always tired when I stay home with Gabriel, I will take that anyday to going to work. It really made me appreciate all over again how lucky I am to have this special time at home with him. I am hoping to win the lottery between now and June so that I don't have to go back to work, ha ha!

Cedric and I are leaving tomorrow around lunchtime to head down to Raleigh for Cynthia's "Moving to Texas" Party. I am really looking forward to seeing all our friends down that way and just having a wild night out on the town. I haven't had one of those in a VERY long time, I guess over a year ago before I was pregnant. I plan to drink a LOT of Red Oak beer, which is on tap at the place we are going to. If you read my previous blog, you will know that this is my most FAVORITE beer. My parents are keeping Gabriel and I am sure he will have a blast with them, they spoil him rotten. We are also going to go and see Laura and Travis' house which is being built and I am very excited about that. It should really be a great weekend, but probably a little on the emotional side too. I am happy for Cynthia, but let me tell you, I am not happy about her moving to Texas. She has been my sidekick since we were 10 years old, that is 20 years together. Knowing that she is not going to be just a short car ride away pretty much sucks. Guess we will be in a "long distance relationship" :)

Congrats to Cynthia, who finished up with her finals yesterday! Her school days are now over, she will be concentrating on studying for the BAR exam now.

I am thinking of you guys and Gabriel with that. I don't know what's going on with health issues this year! Anyways, we love you guys!
I know Gabriel will have a blast with your Mom and Dad. I still want to go over and see the Strawberry Shortcake collection.
Have a good time at Cynthia's party. I think she needs to start a blog now that she is moving (haha, I know she's reading this). I hope she gets to go visit Southfork while she's living out there. I want to go there.

Have a super weekend!

morgan,

hey. julie here at work was just telling me about her neighbor's baby. he had a lot of trouble with reflux etc. just digestion period. he takes something called reglin--that might not be spelled right. i am so sorry about all this. luckily as he gets bigger, i bet it will get better b/c his little trunk muscles will get stronger and stronger.
take care, and good luck at the specialist.
